Standard Nubian Senior Does
These girls will really help us set our emphasis on correct type and production. I can't wait to see what they can do in our herd. Thanks goes out to Laura Evans from Saada Dairy Goats, and to Karen Senn of Kastdemur's Dairy Goats for these beautiful does!
Saada Snickerdoodle
Snickers has matured nicely, and is blossoming as a yearling milker. She is a smooth, powerful doe that is very well blended. Her udder is simply fantastic, easily the best in the herd so far. It is very wide and smoothly attached, with the nice, smooth fore. I am very, very impressed with this doe's udder! Her teat placement is nearly perfect, not too far out to the side, and the teats are even and a nice size for hand milking. Snickers has been bred this year to Blue Oak's Smoke and Mirrors, Sapphire's buckling from Spring 2007. Sapphire's rear udder height is phenomenal, so I'm hoping that he can pass these traits on. Smoky has tight shoulders and wonderful spring of rib. He has such beautiful dairy character!
Saada Apache Tears - Sold!
Apache is a black doeling with white spots and brown ears - very pretty! I feel very lucky to have this doeling, as she has SGCH Saada's Lemon Albedo as a major contributor to her pedigree. Both her sire and granddam were recently awarded the Superior Genetics (SG) designation! Apache has good structure and rear end assembly with good width and a high, gorgeously wide escutcheon. She is developing a nice body capacity and depth, and I hope she will carry through with the tradition of strong breed characteristics and fabulous milk production. Unfortunately, her dam, Saada Blue Micah Jaydo, passed away soon after kidding due to recurring mastitis and we don't have any photos of her udder, but Micah had a high, wide rear udder and a fantastic foreudder. Her sire, Gandolf, has also passed on. Apache has been bred to Blue Oak's Famous Last Words for 2008 kids. Famous is Steady's buckling from Spring 2007, and he carries her long body, long hip, and smooth topline. He has the longest neck! I'm hoping he can also add length to her teats, as Steady's are such a nice size for hand milking. Although Apache has been sold, I will be retaining the kids from this breeding.
Jacob's Pride Rock Steady
I had the chance to add Jacob's Pride Rock Steady to my herd, and couldn't pass up the opportunity. I didn't get photos of Steady's udder this year when she was in milk - but she is living up to her pedigree! Steady's dam has a phenomenal LA score for a first freshener. I can only hope this girl's beautiful traits will be passed on to her offspring and grand-offspring! She's a granddaughter of SGCH Tawa's Tessa, a doe I really admire. Steady has been bred to Sapphire's buckling, Blue Oak's Smoke and Mirrors. Jacob's Pride Simply Sapphire - Sold!
As with Steady, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add Jacob's Pride Simply Sapphire to my herd. Sapphire freshened with a beautiful udder, with soft, stretchy, pliable dairy skin - it looks nearly identical to her mom's! She has large orifices and milks out in nothing flat. Sapphire is bred to Steady's 2007 buckling, Blue Oak's Famous Last Words for 2008 kids. He should help with body length and a flatter rump angle for Sapphire's kids. Can't wait to see Sapphire's second freshening! As with Apache, even though Sapphire has been sold, I will be retaining her 2008 kids.
