Mini Nubian Bucks
An acquaintance of mine said an old time breeder once told her that "your does deserve a buck whose dam is better than any of the does in your herd." This is something I truly believe, as having a good buck can make or break your herd. I keep only the best bucks from the best does!
*B Blue Oak's King's Ransom, American, 3rd gen Mini Nubian
Ransom is a flashy buckskin with an irregular white belly band. He was just a hair longer, deeper, and wider than his brother, and has a smoother, stronger front end assembly. Ransom also got his daddy's depth and spring of rib. As I was hoping to increase these traits for Gidgie's kids, I kept this little guy as a new herdsire. He has a nice wide, open escutcheon, too - so like his daddy's. Ransom has also inherited his sires wonderful sweet temperament. Ransom has developed into a wonderful buck, and has stayed pretty small. I wish I had a better photo of him to put up, but there he is, in all his fuzzy glory. He'll have to wait for summer for a more well-groomed pic.
Blue Oak's Limerick, 2nd gen Mini Nubian
Limerick was born on St. Paddy's Day, so needed a good Irish name. Well, bucks being bucks, "dirty limerick" came to mind (grin). He has his grandmother Apache's incredible width of bone and body. He is very small, so was used on my taller does for 2009 kids. Blue Oak's Benchmark, American, 4th gen Mini Nubian
Blue Oak's Legends Begin, 1st gen Mini Nubian
Legend is gorgeous, long, level, and smooth. I can't wait to see what happens with his babies! Blue Oak's Stoplight Karma, 1st gen Mini Nubian
Karma got his name because after all the waiting for kids from Terrabella, they both HAD to be boys. Sheesh. Kind of like when you're driving down the road and every light you hit is red. But, in the long run, I'm happy with the way it turned out.
