Our chickens range daily on unsprayed pastures. They are raised as organically as possible, however, I will isolate and administer antibiotics as necessary for the health of the bird. I do this because I feel it is inhumane to let an animal suffer. In strictly organic production, a bird is either left to recover on its own or is killed outright. Because of my breeding program and involvement with rare breed poultry, this is not an option.
In the past, I raised French Marans is several different colors and exhibition quality Silver Spangled Hamburg Bantams. Currently, I have a handful of random layers for pastured eggs, but no breeding stock of rare breed poultry. The eggs are delicious!
